Hilary Mantel is a wizard, and she is an interesting writer. I can't think of a moment when her prose falters, her characterizations are less than masterly, or her plot wanders. I enjoy reading the progression of his thoughts, observations, events, dreams, fantasies and fears. It's to her great credit that her characters are human - no caricatures to move the story along, or to dispose of when no longer useful. The writing, love it! It is so evocative of the time.
