Dial A for Aunties suffers from the weak middle point because even in the series of unfortunate events (for Meddy and her mom and aunts) in a huge wedding in an island, it didn't manage to catch my attention. I'm confused because the book felt half-baked. It did have its funny moments, but I couldn't feel any reflective other than your usual 'my family held me back' scenes. I couldn't feel any rage as Meddy, nor did her love for Nathan, and her inner monologue every time she met with him is annoying at best. Although the book was such a let down, it picked up the pace and plot nearing the end. Let's just say that the last 20% gave the book another star for me.
