The translations and interpretations are not very literal/word-for-word, but this is neither good nor bad, it is both. I feel has a more accurate and literal translation that is typically more thorough. However, the author seems to be quite familiar with Eastern thought as a whole, not just in Taoism, but also Zen Buddhism. Therefore, in some way this may add or take away from the Tao Teh Ching.
